Every company should work profitable in the
mid or long term or else disappear. However, sometimes internal
or external issues can prevent managers to get the right focus on
profitability. E.g. business units traditionally belonging to the
company can work with no or even negative margins just because it
is politically difficult to improve them. Functional areas do their
work without a clear target in terms of profits, are overstaffed
or have low productivity rates. This is where clients may be interested
in a professional, independent screening or project set-up by APMC.
We first establish a clear understanding of what determines profitability
looking at key business aspects and the P&L, e.g.:

We then analyse all functions involved in the company’s value
creation chain.

Primary functions: inbound & outbound logistics, production
sites, customer service, S&M

Secondary functions: general management, finance, HR, procurement,
IT, R&D
Once we have a clear picture on the details, we start looking for
solutions most likely involving internal experts as well. Recommendations
are then made to the general management or the steering committee
chairing the project.
